Our Treatment Approach

Every person who comes through our doors has a different story, and our treatment reflects that. At PCP, we build a personalised programme around you, not the other way around.

Treatment at our Cardiff centre begins with a medically supervised detox. Our in-house doctors and nurses are on-site 24 hours a day to manage withdrawal safely and comfortably, whether you are detoxing from alcohol or drugs.

Once detox is complete, the focus shifts to understanding what drives the addiction. Our therapeutic programme combines one-to-one counselling, group therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to help you identify the thought patterns and behaviours that keep the cycle going. We also use holistic approaches including mindfulness, relapse prevention planning, and wellness sessions to support your physical and mental recovery.

We offer flexible programme lengths depending on your needs and circumstances. A typical stay ranges from 14 to 28 days, though extended programmes are available for those who would benefit from a longer period of support. Our secondary programme provides continued therapeutic care for clients who have completed their primary treatment.

Recovery does not end when you leave. Our aftercare programme offers ongoing support to help you stay on track once you return home.

People assessed for primary alcohol use across Wales 24/25

Wales recorded 417 deaths related to drug poisoning in 2024, equivalent to a rate of 140.4 deaths per million people. This is higher than the rate recorded the previous year and continues a trend that has been climbing since records began. Of these, 288 were classified as drug misuse deaths, the highest count Wales has ever recorded.

Alcohol-related harm is equally pressing. In 2024/25, nearly 5,000 people were assessed for primary alcohol use by substance misuse services across Wales, many for the first time. People living in the most deprived areas of Wales are almost three times more likely to die from alcohol-related causes than those in the least deprived areas.

Cardiff, as the largest city in Wales, carries a significant share of this burden. Despite the scale of the problem, publicly funded residential treatment remains limited, making it important to know that effective, affordable private rehab is available locally, and that free community support exists for those in recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rehab in Cardiff

How much does rehab cost?

The cost of private residential rehab in the UK typically ranges from around £4,000 to £12,000 for a 28-day programme, depending on the provider and level of care. PCP Cardiff is one of the most affordable private rehabs in Wales. We also offer flexible payment plans so you can spread the cost in a way that works for you. Call us on 08000 380 480 for a confidential discussion about pricing.

A typical residential programme lasts between 14 and 28 days, though some people benefit from a longer stay. Your treatment plan is built around your individual needs. We also offer a secondary programme for clients who want to continue their recovery in a structured environment after completing primary treatment.

Inpatient rehab means you live at the clinic for the duration of your treatment. You receive 24-hour medical support, a structured daily programme of therapy and counselling, and you are in a safe environment removed from everyday triggers. Outpatient rehab involves attending appointments while continuing to live at home, which can suit milder cases but provides less structure and support. PCP Cardiff offers residential inpatient treatment with round-the-clock care from our in-house medical and therapeutic team.

The NHS can, in some cases, refer patients to private residential rehab, but this is uncommon and usually involves lengthy waiting lists. In Wales, publicly funded residential placements are particularly limited. Most NHS-supported treatment is outpatient, delivered through services like CAVDAS in Cardiff. If you need immediate residential treatment, private rehab is typically the fastest and most effective route. PCP Cardiff can arrange admission within 24 hours.

Call our admissions team on 08000 380 480 at any time. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We carry out a free, confidential assessment over the phone and can arrange your admission within 24 hours if needed. You can also start the process online through our pre-admission form.

Recovery does not stop when you leave. PCP provides an aftercare programme to every client who completes treatment with us. In Cardiff, there are also several free community support options including Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Recovery Cymru, and CAVDAS, all of which offer ongoing help.

We have a full guide on what to bring to rehab that covers everything. In general, pack comfortable clothing, toiletries, any prescribed medication, and a form of ID. We provide bedding, towels, and three freshly prepared meals a day from our on-site kitchen.
