Residential Rehab Packing
Preparing for residential rehab is easier when you know what to pack, what you can bring and which items are not permitted during treatment.
At Rehab Today by PCP, we recommend packing comfortable clothing, personal toiletries, prescribed medication and a few familiar belongings to help you feel at home. Check with our admissions team about medication, mobile phones and other electronics before you arrive, as guidelines may vary between treatment centres.
Use our rehab packing checklist to prepare your personal items and identify what to leave behind. If you forget an essential, our team can help arrange for it to be purchased or delivered during your stay.

What to Take to Rehab
- Prescribed medications in the original box – any medications you are prescribed on a regular basis. It’s important they are in the original box, otherwise we can’t confirm they are your medications and/or the correct dosage levels.
- Toiletries – you will need personal toiletries during your stay, such as toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, alcohol-free mouthwash, hairdryer, moisturiser, sanitary ware.
- Ipad/ Kindle – we want you to be able to access the music, TV programmes and books you love, during your downtime.
- Clothing, including nightwear and comfortable footwear. Please ensure your clothes are suitable for the time of year and are comfortable for both indoor and outdoor wear.
- Towel – please bring a bath towel and a hand towel or towels with you. We have laundry facilities.
- Mobile phone – mobile phone use is restricted to ensure your attention stays focused on your recovery, but access is allowed for certain periods of the evening and weekends.
- Personal items and sundries – please bring with you cash, a debit/credit card for additional toiletries, cigarettes, tobacco, vape liquid. Your cash and cards will be kept in the rehab safe until you require them.
- Paperwork – please bring details of any appointments that you have not had the time to rearrange and any important paperwork that will need to be dealt with during your stay. Our office administration staff will be happy to support you
- Photos of family and loved ones – these are permitted providing their content is appropriate.

What Not to Take to Rehab
To maintain a safe and comfortable environment for everyone, please avoid bringing the following items:
Alcohol or illicit drugs: These are not permitted on PCP premises. However, do not suddenly stop drinking or using drugs before admission without medical advice, as withdrawal can be dangerous. If you arrive intoxicated, please don’t feel ashamed. Our experienced medical team is here to assess and support you safely.
Expensive jewellery and valuables: We recommend leaving valuable or sentimental items at home. If necessary, certain items can be stored securely in our rehab safe.
Unprescribed medication: Only bring medication that has been legitimately prescribed to you.
Over-the-counter medicines: Please check with our admissions team before bringing any non-prescription medication.
Sharp or potentially dangerous objects: Items that could cause injury to yourself or others are not permitted.
If you’re unsure whether an item is allowed, please contact our admissions team before your arrival.
Carefully Consider
Please note: Any items that you bring that can be abused, or are considered dangerous, will be kept in our office safe and returned to you on completion of treatment. We do not allow any aerosol cans or items containing alcohol in our rehabs.
